Jimmy McNulty returned to Edgeley Park as First-Team Head Coach in June 2026, 18 years after first joining County as a defender from Macclesfield Town in January 2008. He was part of the County side that won promotion from League Two through the 2008 play-offs at Wembley. After ending his playing career at Rochdale, McNulty moved into coaching and became Dale's permanent Head Coach in 2023. He guided them to a fourth-place National League finish and the play-offs in 2024/25 before leading a record-breaking, promotion-winning 2025/26 campaign that returned Rochdale to the EFL. County appointed him on a three-year deal on 5 June 2026.
